REAL TIME ULTRASOUND

What is Real Time Ultrasound?

Real Time Ultrasound (RTUS) is a type of imaging device that Physiotherapists use to allow us to see your muscles in action in real time.  It is a great tool to allow Physiotherapists to check which muscles are working and if you are using your muscles properly during certain movements and activities.

RTUS is performed as an assessment and it is also used as a treatment tool to help retrain muscle imbalance.

What Can Real Time Ultrasound Physiotherapy Be Used For?

Real time Ultrasound is commonly used for conditions such as  :

  • Lower back pain and Pelvic pain

  • Pelvic instability

  • Pregnancy back pain

  • Problems associated with poor posture

  • Incontinence

  • Pelvic floor problems

  • Post natal rehabilitation of pelvic floor and abdominal muscle

  • Post Caesarean section

  • Post surgery - spinal and abdominal surgery

  • RTUS can also be used to help treatment other joint problems such as shoulder pain, knee pain and foot pains which involves dysfunction of muscles.

Speak to our Physiotherapists to see how you will benefit from Real time ultrasound.
